Rnd 23: Sc in each st around. (12 sts)
Do NOT close the top — this will be the opening of the bag. Sl st to next st. FO, leaving a long tail for attaching leaves.
🌿 PART 2: LEAF CAP (Green) — Make 5 leaves
Each leaf is made separately, then joined.
SINGLE LEAF:
Ch 7.
Row 1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook: sl st, sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc. (6 sts)
Do NOT turn. Continue along the other side of the chain:
Row 2: Ch 1, working on opposite side of foundation chain: sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc, sl st. (6 sts)
FO, leave a tail for sewing.
Make 5 identical leaves.
🌱 PART 3: STEM (Green)
Ch 6.
Row 1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook: sc in each ch across. (5 sts)
FO, leave tail. Roll into a small cylinder and sew to secure.
🧵 PART 4: STRAP (Pink)
You have two options:
Option A — Simple Chain Strap (easiest): Ch 180-200 (adjust for desired length). Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. FO.
Option B — Cord/Tube Strap (neater, recommended): Ch 3, sl st to form a ring. Rnd 1: Sc 3 into ring. Continue in spiral: sc in each st around until strap measures ~90-100 cm. Sl st, FO.
⚪ PART 5: SEEDS (White embroidery)
Using white yarn and yarn needle:
- Make small straight stitches or French knots scattered randomly on the strawberry body
- Each seed = 2-3 small stitches in a "V" or oval shape
- Space them evenly — approximately 15-20 seeds total
- Tip: Mark positions with pins first for even placement
🪡 ASSEMBLY:
Attach leaves: Sew 5 leaves evenly around the top opening of the strawberry, overlapping slightly. The tips should point outward.
Attach stem: Sew the small stem to the center top, between the leaves.
Attach strap: Sew each end of the strap securely to opposite sides of the bag, just under the leaf cap.
Weave in all ends neatly inside.
💡 TIPS FOR BEGINNERS:
- ✅ Use a stitch marker — it's essential for counting rounds!
- ✅ Keep tension consistent — not too tight, not too loose
- ✅ Count your stitches after every round
- ✅ Stuff the bag as you go before the opening gets too small
- ✅ Block leaves with steam for a neater look (optional)
✨ VARIATIONS:
- 🍓 Classic red strawberry: Use red yarn + yellow seeds
- 🍓 Mini keychain: Use thinner yarn (fingering weight) and 2.0mm hook
- 🍓 Drawstring closure: Add a chain cord through Round 22 for a functional pouch
Congratulations! Your adorable strawberry bag is complete! 🍓
