🎧 PART 1: MAIN POUCH BODY (Mint Green)
We work in continuous rounds (do not join, do not turn). Use a stitch marker to track the beginning of each round.
Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc into ring. Pull tight. (6 sts)
Rnd 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sts)
Rnd 3: Sc 1, inc — repeat 6 times. (18 sts)
Rnd 4: Sc 2, inc — repeat 6 times. (24 sts)
Rnd 5: Sc 3, inc — repeat 6 times. (30 sts)
Rnds 6-12: Sc in each st around. (30 sts) — 7 rounds even
⚠️ This creates the depth of the pouch. After Round 12, the piece should measure approximately 4-5 cm tall.
Rnd 13: Sc 3, dec — repeat 6 times. (24 sts)
Rnd 14: Sc in each st around. (24 sts)
Do NOT fasten off. We will now create the flap.
📋 PART 2: FLAP CLOSURE
Now we switch from working in the round to working in rows (back and forth).
Row 1: Ch 1 (does not count as st), sc in next 12 sts. Turn. Leave remaining 12 sts unworked. (12 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (12 sts)
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (12 sts)
Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (12 sts)
Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (12 sts)
Row 6: Ch 1, dec, sc in next 8 sts, dec. Turn. (10 sts)
Row 7: Ch 1, dec, sc in next 6 sts, dec. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 8: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 9 (button loop row): Ch 1, sc in next 3 sts, ch 6 (this creates the button loop), skip 2 sts, sc in next 3 sts. Turn.
Row 10: Ch 1, sc in next 3 sts, sc 6 into the ch-6 loop, sc in next 3 sts. (12 sts)
Sl st around the entire edge of the flap for a neat finish (optional but recommended).
FO, leaving a long tail for weaving in.
🧵 PART 3: EDGING (Optional but Recommended)
Attach yarn to the top edge of the pouch body (where the flap begins) and work:
Rnd 1: Sc evenly around the entire opening of the pouch, working 1 sc in each unworked st from Rnd 14, and sl st to join.
FO and weave in ends.
🔘 PART 4: BUTTON ATTACHMENT
Using yarn needle and matching yarn:
- Position the wooden button on the front center of the pouch body, approximately 1 cm below the top edge.
- Fold the flap down to check that the button loop reaches comfortably.
- Sew the button securely through both holes, ensuring it's firmly attached.
- Weave in all remaining ends neatly inside the pouch.
💡 TIPS FOR BEGINNERS:
✅ Use a stitch marker — essential for counting rounds!
✅ Keep tension consistent — too tight will make the pouch stiff; too loose will make it floppy
✅ Count your stitches after every round/row
✅ Test the button loop — make sure it stretches comfortably over the button
✅ Steam block for a polished look — lightly steam the flap for crisp edges (optional)
✨ VARIATIONS:
🎧 Multi-color version: Use contrasting color for the flap
🎧 Keychain attachment: Add a small D-ring or lobster clasp to the side
🎧 Zipper closure: Replace button with a small 7cm zipper sewn to the opening
🎧 Coin purse: Make it slightly larger by adding 6 more sts in foundation (36 sts instead of 30)
🎧 Gift set: Make matching cases in different pastel colors
Congratulations! Your adorable mint AirPods case is complete! 🎧💚
